Parents furnace went out around Christmas time. Bob came very quick and replaced the faulty inducer. Upon inspection of the furnace he noticed the heat exchanger was in bad shape on this 20+ year old unit. Bob & his team came back and replaced the whole furnace. Job was done very neatly, affordably & professionally. Would highly recommend B&Z heating to anybody in the south suburbs. 5 stars !

Let me start by saying that I have always been very cautious because almost every company tries to rip people off. Well, let me tell you, B&Z provides honest, fair, and quality services. They are a family-owned and operated company. My furnace was overheating due to the wrong air filter. They came, inspected the unit, and scheduled me for a follow-up cleaning. I will be a regular customer and will be getting my yearly cleaning with B&Z from now on!

B & Z is the best. Bob and his crew responded very quickly and helped me make the right decision on a new furnace and AC unit. Unlike many HVAC providers I’ve worked with, Bob carries and can provide any of the major brands, so he does not push one brand and upsell for more than you need. He did a thorough analysis and test to determine the appropriate size systems and gave me options on good, better, best and associated pros and cons. Most importantly Bob is honest and trustworthy. Quick response, comprehensive evaluation and recommendations, competitive and fair pricing and high quality installation. Highly recommend B & Z!

When your AC quits on a 90-degree afternoon, you want a straight answer, not a sales pitch. Our NATE-certified technicians find what actually failed, whether it's a worn capacitor, a leaking evaporator coil, or a dead compressor, then tell you honestly if it's a quick fix or a bigger decision. You get same-day service, a free estimate, and no pressure to replace parts that are still doing their job.
If any of these sound like your system, it's worth a call before a small fault turns into a compressor replacement.
The vents blow warm or weak air even with the thermostat set low.
The system switches on and off every few minutes instead of finishing a full cooling cycle.
Water pools around the indoor unit, or the evaporator coil freezes over.
A hard hum, buzzing, or grinding, or the breaker trips when the system starts up.
One room never gets comfortable while the rest of the house stays fine.
Your cooling bill climbed with no real change in the weather or how you run the system.
A real repair starts with a real diagnostic, not a guess. Here's what a B&Z technician checks, and why each step matters for getting it fixed the first time.
We measure the refrigerant charge, test the electrical parts (capacitor, contactor, compressor), and check airflow across the coil. Most 'won't cool' calls trace back to one of those three.
A frozen coil is usually a symptom of low refrigerant or restricted airflow, so we fix the cause, not just the surface issue that brought us out.
You approve the price up front. Nothing gets replaced without your OK, and there's no pressure to swap a system that can be repaired.
After the fix we re-check temperatures and pressures to confirm the system is back to spec before we leave.
The biggest driver is which part gave out, since replacing a start capacitor or contactor is a far smaller job than swapping a failed compressor or blower motor. The age of your system matters too, because parts for older units can be harder to source. When the trouble is low refrigerant, the type you have changes things, and systems still running on phased-out R-22 cost more to recharge than newer R-410A units. A refrigerant leak adds to the work, because it has to be located and sealed before any refrigerant goes back in. Your system's size in tons, how easily a technician can reach the indoor and outdoor equipment, whether the repair calls for a permit, and whether you're phoning during business hours or as a 24/7 emergency all play a part as well.
